Wii System Info
The Wii, released on November 19, 2006, was first going to be called the Nintendo Revolution. However, closer to the release date, Nintendo changed it's name to the Nintendo Wii.The Wii possesses many cool, new features. The first one is the controller style. The controller is shaped like a television remote which is the reason for the name Wii Remote or “Wiimote”. The Wii Remote can be used in various ways. The first way is to simply point it at the screen. The second way is to do various motions with it. The third way is to press the buttons on it. Overall the Wii Remote is very easy to use and hold once you get used to it.
Another cool thing about the Nintendo Wii is that it has different attachments for the Wii Remote. One of them is the Nunchuck. The Nunchuck is basically just an odd, oblong shaped controller with an analog stick and two buttons. It fits perfectly in your hand and is very comfortable to operate the analog stick. The Nunchuck plays an important role in several of games. It is motion sensitive which can enhance games such as Wii Sports and Super Mario Galaxy. Another controller you can hook up to a Wii Remote is the Classic Controller. This controller fells comfortable to hold, and like all other Wii Controllers is nice and sleek. It's main purpose is to play Virtual Console Games, but you can use it on the Wii Menu, the Wii Shop Channel, and with some Wii games. The third and final one is the Guitar. All you have to do is plug a Wii Remote into it, snap the Wii Remote into the holding compartment, and place the back cover on. This last controller is used to play Guitar Hero III for the Nintendo Wii, and does not work with any other system. It has an analog stick on it to scroll through the menus, + and - buttons to start things, all the buttons on the Wii Remote, and green, red, yellow, blue, and orange buttons used to play the game. It is comfortable to hold and has a strap so you don't have to hold it up or support it with your leg.
There are tons of other features that the Nintendo Wii has that other systems do not. One of those features is things called Channels, which are used for different things:
-The Disc Channel is what you go to when you have a Wii or GameCube disc in the Wii and want to play it.
-The Photo Channel allows you to upload photos via the SD Card Slot and then view them, draw on them, or make puzzles out of them.
-The Mii Channel allows you to create cartoonish people that resemble yourself.
-The Weather Channel is what you use to view your local weather and weather around the world.
-The News Channel is what you use to view the most recent news.
-The Wii Shop Channel allows you to download games from several retro video game systems and original Wii software called WiiWare.
-The Everybody Votes Channel allows you to vote and predict what other people will say on various questions.
-The Check Mii Out Channel allows you to submit various Miis and enter them in contests.
-The Internet Channel allows you to view the Internet through an Opera Browser compatible with the Wii.
All of these cool channels make the Wii have a lot more use than just playing games.
Some other cool things about the Wii are, it can play GameCube games and even supports the controllers/memory card. You can use your old GameCube controller to play most of the games on the Virtual Console, even though it is not as comfortable as the Wiimote or Classic Controller. Your can send e-mails and messages to other people who have Wiis. You can upload pictures onto your Wii through an SD card slot. You can surf the web with your Wii. There are updates on the Wii on rare occasions which give your Wii other cool features like a clock or can update channels to make them look better. Also you can charge things that can charge through a USB port by plugging it into the back of the Wii.
