DS PictoChat
The Nintendo DS comes with a free software called PictoChat. Which basically is a handheld chatroom.
Except there are some differences, all of which (in my opinion) make it better.This chatroom allows you to draw with your DS Stylus or type messages to your friends. There can be up to four people in a chatroom at one time. However, there are four chat rooms (Chatrooms A, B, C, and D). This allows up to 16 people to talk on PictoChat in one area.
You cannot be more than 30 feet away from the person you are sending messages to. So you would want to be in the same room or relatively close to that person.
Overall this is a nice and helpful feature if you just feel like drawing pictures with your friend or just want to have fun talking to them.
